Default Skills for Heroes Question

Hey all

I have a quick question about skills for heroes.

1) In the past if I wanted my hero to have a skill, I would change my secondary profession to the class I want and then buy the skill or Cap the skill so I could use them on my heroes. There is one problem with this. If the skill is in the primary attribute of the class, I obviously can't buy or Cap the skill, so how do I get the skill for my Hero?

2) If I buy the Skill unlock pack available from Anet, will this unlock all the skills for my Heroes, or will I still need to buy them using a Hero Trainer or the method above?

Thanks for your time!

^_^

EDIT: Also are there any tips you can give me on what the best way to aquire these skills is?

You can most certainly buy/cap skills in other class's primary attributes. You can also use them. You just can't put attribute points into that attribute to make the skills more powerful.

The skill unlock pack will allow you to use all the skills on your heroes.

Personally, I like to unlock the skills via PvP for my heroes, and then use tomes if I need them for myself. This is by far the least expensive way to obtain non-elite skills, although it's also the most time-consuming.

Thanks Fury!

However when I go to a skill trainer, I don't have any options to buy skills from another Profession's Primary attrib. Am I doing something wrong? Or is it just because I need to unlock the skill first... (say in PVP or using a Pack)

^^

You can only buy certain skills from certain trainers. In the PvE part of the game, trainers in each town and outpost only have a small selection of skills (as I'm sure you know) so you can only buy what they have available. They may just not have what you're looking for. If you're in a guild with a guild hall and skill trainer, he'll sell any skill you've previously unlocked.

Me checking out some sweet new Divine Favor skills
(Note that my main class is Ranger)

I am in a guild, so I guess that is the best place to buy skills...

Okay, that answers everything

Thank you again Fury!

I think the problem you're having is that youre trying to buy skills from a primary profession that you dont have currently selected on your character.

Say for instance, you're a ranger/monk. You cannot view or buy any other skills for any other class from the skill trainer other than ranger or monk until you change your secondary profession to say a ranger/elementalist. Then you can buy skills from the elementalist profession as well as your ranger skills.

Once this skill is bought/unlocked with faction, and the skill is unlocked for the account, your heroes can use it at any time without ever having to repurchase it again on say a different hero or a different char alltogether. Just change the hero's profession/secondary profession to match the build you want. Also, once the skill is unlocked, it is then available at any skill trainer outside of the guildhall trainer. The guildhall trainer only has the core 6 professions and then it is only core skills only.

Hi Yichi

Yah I think that must have been the problem. Coupled with the fact that I may have been at a skill trainer that just didn't have any skills for that Profession.

I will buy from the GH from now on.

Question about the GH:

Will the GH Skill Trainer have all the skills available for all the campaigns I have been to? i.e. if I have finished Prof and am halfway through Factions, will I be able to access all the skills from the Prof campaign and the skills halfway through Factions?

Thanks for the help

Guild Hall Skill Trainers can only sell Signets of Capture and Core skills. So they will not have skills for Assassins, Ritualists, Dervishes, and Paragons.

You can also visit a Hero Skill Trainer:

http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Hero_sk...iner_locations

It's a good value because you use Hero Skill Points to get skills from them and the Skills you learn from them are available to your heroes and YOU as well.

The Skill Trader in the Guild Hall only sells/teaches (Core) Skills that you have Unlocked. It may very well be that you have not Unlocked any of these Primary Attribute Skills, that may be the reason they don't show up. You Unlock skills through spending Balthazar Faction gained in PvP at a Priest of Balthazar or through learning them in PvE either on another Character or on one or more of your other Character's Heroes. Ofc, you also may want to check if you have the correct Profession set to the Profession you want to buy Skills from.

Edit: If you buy the skill unlock pack, the skills are unlocked and ready to use for your PvP's, and unlocked and ready to buy for your PvE's.
